Winter Walking in Cannich

A great weekend's winter walking with the Glenmore Club. Did 2 Munros at Loch Mullardoch - Carn nan Gobhar (992m) and Sgurr na Lapaich (1150m) -on Saturday with Sue, Liz, Phyllis, Chris, Gill, Arthur, Brian, John and then a Corbett in Glen Strathfarrar - Beinn a'Bha'ach Ard (862m) - on Sunday.

Bishop Hill Race

SUNDAY 2 MARCH 2008
1st race of the Scottish Championship 2008 series, and one of the shortest races you are ever likely to do.180 of us lined up in a wee sleepy hollow near Scotlandwell before launching ourselves up 1000 feet of steep Fife hillside. David Riach hared off in pursuit of Jethro Lennox, closely followed by Nigel, Manny and not quite so closely by Don Reid, Murdo, Dave Rogers,JD, Brian B, Donald. Christine led off the quality Westies Women field of herself, Jane and Brenda. After a crazy fun descent we finished in more or less that order. A lovely wee race well organised by Lomond Hillrunners. I was pretty pleased with my run - 23m 35s and 63/178 runners, especially after having ran 20 miles the day before.

Water of Leith Run

SATURDAY 1 MARCH 2008
Since I had no takers for my Chatelherault extravaganza, Dave Rogers tempted me over east for a lovely A to B run, transport provided by Mrs R. - We ran 3hrs 20mins from the source of the Water of Leith at Harperrig Reservoir (GR 103613) down 20 miles to where it meets the sea in sunny Leith, stopping off halfway at Dave's house for soup and sandwiches. A boggy swampy few miles to start; some road miles; then some cracking riverside trails down to Leith. Finished off by hot chocolate and cakes in the Tiso cafe.
